tl;DR
At a weekend startup pitch contest; I worked with a small group to create a collegiate sports betting app. I lead the project and created the mockup.
In 54 hours, a diverse group of thirteen college students conceptualized, developed, prototyped, and pitched BetU, a collegiate sports betting app. This was the actualization of a Startup Weekend working against the clock to build a viable business.
I had pitched the idea thus I undertook the role of project manager and delegated teams dependent on each individuals declared strengths. I happened to be the sole person with design experience, so I tackled the branding, UI, and prototype. I welcomed this challenge, I had previously worked on an app UI for a Startup Weekend app and was excited to develop a better, sleeker product.
For our presentation we showed this screen grab. Using the wireframes I created a prototype of our customer journey, of placing a bet. This video mockup was meant to show the ease of use of an intuitive design.
I have participated in a few Startup Weekends, this one tested my abilities as a leader and a UI designer. With my team, we tackled obstacles with creative solutions, and collaboratively built a business. The short timeline of a weekend challenged me, as a designer, to utilize my time management skills to efficiently put together a sleek design.
